Andy Hill right man for 45th District

Oct 05 2010, 1:20 PM

I recently saw 45th District Sen. Eric Oemig’s attack ad about candidate Andy Hill. I must state here that I have personally known Andy and his family for several years. Andy has served his community as a parent volunteer for our school’s PTSA. He’s been a soccer coach for years in his community. But most importantly, after only a few months of finding out that the battle for his life from cancer was essentially over, he took a look at his good fortune and decided he wanted a better place for his kids and others. He signed up to run for office. That doesn’t make him a politician in my book. That makes him a pretty remarkable man. Andy Hill is a numbers man. He knows how to “keep the books.” We need someone like him to get this state out of the horrible financial mess we are in.

Eric Oemig needs to run a dirty campaign to hide his terrible record. I’ll be voting for Andy Hill, and if he wins, this state might just get the right man for the right time.

If elected, Hill will tackle real issues

Why do career politicians think that the voters buy negative advertising?

Recently I saw a TV spot that attacked Andy Hill for being a “politician” that has a hidden agenda that can’t be trusted. Andy Hill is a first-time candidate for State Senate in the 45th district. He doesn’t hide his agenda. He’s all about creating jobs, getting the spending under control and fixing our schools.

I have known Andy for more than 20 years and can certainly trust him, as a father of three, a recent cancer survivor, and a person that left the business world to volunteer in the classrooms and the athletic fields in our community. His opponent, Eric Oemig, is a member of the State Senate who presided over the rapid decline of our state’s fortunes, leaving us much, much worse off than four years ago. Perhaps this is why Oemig feels that he must attack instead of talk about the issues.

How about a side-by-side comparison in your paper of both of them.

Even exposure to his voting record — like when he was the only legislator who voted against honoring the soldiers who died in Desert Storm. Or the fact that Oemig walks out during a flag salute.

We need serious change. Not spending and growing government in these economic times.

Let’s push towards the real issues.

Political attack ads have no credibility

Sep 30 2010, 1:59 PM

I was so disheartened to see yet another political attack ad on the TV recently.

This ad attacked Andy Hill, who is running for State Senate in the 45th legislative district.

The ad said that Andy is untrustworthy and has a hidden agenda. Usually I ignore this type of mudslinging, but I happen to know Andy Hill. He has coached my kids in soccer and he has tutored my kids in the classroom. He has spent countless hours serving on the boards of the PTA and the local soccer association. He recently beat lung cancer.

He is a good person, and to attack him this way is exactly why so many people are fed up and have tuned out of the political process. Perhaps the best way to combat this is to vote out those that feel the only way to win is to play dirty. I’ll be voting for Andy Hill, and I advise your readers not to believe any of the attacks that are thrown at him in the future.

Sen. Oemig’s priorities in the wrong place

Sep 30 2010, 2:00 PM

Senator Eric Oemig claims he represents the 45th legislative district’s values but he has spent four years wasting his time and our money attempting to impeach former president Bush and former vice president Cheney, unsuccessfully trying to tax a coal plant in Centralia and making it easier for felons to vote.

Are those really the concerns of the citizens in the 45th district?

Hill can fix our state’s woes

Sep 30 2010, 1:59 PM

Our legislature needs to stop looking for quick fixes to our state’s economic problems and focus on ensuring success for the long term. We need to elect leaders who hold an unwavering commitment to a balanced budget and to our state’s education system.

Electing Andy Hill to the state senate in the 45th legislative district is the best choice for our state’s economy and our children’s future. His involvement in school and youth sports reflects his deep commitment to youth. His work at improving Washington’s schools will result in a new generation of youth who are ready to compete in the global economy.

Hill also understands the need for a fiscally responsible government and is committed to accountability and a balanced budget. His ideas for job creation, promoting small businesses and fair taxes are the foundation needed to get Washington state’s finances back in order.

We need Andy Hill as our state senator in the 45th district to ensure a promising future for Washington state.
